Student Created Tours

By this point I hope that you see how simple it is to create a collection of placemarks in Google Earth. In fact it is so simple that your students can do it on their own.
Putting the student in the drive seat of any technology empowers them to take ownership of their learning and rais the bar on the level of their work.

One interesting idea in this arena is to have students create a habitat map. They could create a local one of the area around where you live or a global tour that can be tied into some of the layers selections.

Or students may tie their Black History Projects into placemarks to create a more complete sense of space and reality.
Recently a teacher at our school had 3rd grade students creating Glogs for Black History Month. Why not have them include place marks of relevant locations and embed their projects in the descriptions.
